About Fastech

Drive technology that simply works

Conventional drive technology usually forces a compromise: easy handling or true precision — rarely both. FASTECH has specialized in solving exactly this problem for over two decades: closed-loop stepping systems, combining the reliability of a stepper motor with the precision of a servo drive — without either one's weaknesses.

The technology behind it

Conventional drive technology usually forces you into a compromise:

  • Open-loop stepper motors are simple and inexpensive, but can lose steps under load and, for safety reasons, use only part of the available torque.
  • Servo motors provide position feedback, but require elaborate gain tuning and tend to oscillate disruptively during positioning ("hunting").

FASTECH's closed-loop stepping technology solves both problems: a high-resolution encoder continuously monitors the motor position and automatically corrects deviations — for example after a shock or an external force. The result: reliable positioning without step loss, full use of the available torque, and a stable end position without overshoot — all without any need for prior calibration.

Technical details

  • Encoder feedback updated every 25 µs
  • High-precision encoder with up to 32,000 pulses per revolution
  • Full use of rated torque (open-loop drives are limited to roughly 50% due to the risk of step loss)
  • Approx. 30% torque increase across the entire speed range via an internal DC-DC boost converter and run current up to 150%
  • Load-dependent current control for stable high-speed operation
  • 32-bit DSP control for fast, precise motion calculation
  • Compatible with common field networks: EtherCAT, PROFINET/PROFIdrive, standard Ethernet, CC-Link IE TSN, Modbus-RTU (Modbus-TCP reportedly in preparation by the manufacturer)
  • Particularly well suited to low mechanical stiffness (e.g. belt drives), where conventional servo systems would need additional inertia matching

The manufacturer: FASTECH

FASTECH Co., Ltd. was founded in 2001 in Bucheon, South Korea, and has specialized in closed-loop stepping systems ever since. The manufacturer describes its own approach through four guiding principles: optimized total solutions instead of isolated individual components, continuous innovation, a “zero defects” quality standard achieved through stable management and strict control, and long-term, partnership-based collaboration with customers. This is underpinned by a quality management system certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Where the technology is used

FASTECH's closed-loop stepping drives are used today in demanding manufacturing and testing environments — for example in LCD/OLED production, semiconductor manufacturing, assembly, packaging and inspection systems, as well as in medical diagnostic devices and laboratory equipment. Industry-standard NEMA mounting flanges make it easy to integrate the drives into existing mechanical designs.

Why Fastech

  • Proven technology — closed-loop stepping with no tuning effort, developed by a manufacturer with over 20 years of focus on exactly this field
  • Open system integration — connectivity to common field networks (EtherCAT, PROFINET, Ethernet, CC-Link IE TSN) for use in existing automation environments
